There are some things that we know are certain to happen. For example, we know that no matter what, there will always be a tomorrow and a loud alarm clock to wake us up. No matter what we call Santa Clause, wether it’s El Nino Jesus or Father Christmas, we know that he will always be there for us on December 25th every year. As we rush downstairs, after a night of wondering, we notice presents galore under the Christmas tree (courtesy of Santa). He’s an icon known around the world for his velvet, red furry coat and signature curly, white beard. Making all little kids’ dreams come true is what he is best at doing and that is made possible from the help of his elves, otherwise known as Santa’s little helpers. To repay him we kindly leave out a plate of fresh cookies and a glass of cold milk, and that explains why he always looks so robust. No one is quite sure where Santa and his little helpers live, but many suggest that he lives in the freezing North Pole hidden in a secluded village. This would be logical because he always has rosy red cheeks, wears large furry garments, and only comes out for the winter season. I’ve always wondered what it was like in the North Pole. It’s hard to know what Christmas movie to believe. The scenery in all of them show complete different views of what the Santa’s workshop is really like and that can be misleading. It may be hard for kids to know what to believe. Phony Santas clutter the streets, supermarkets, and malls getting away with identity theft. Just the thought of little kids giving the impostors the credit on Christmas morning makes me sick!
Nature Preservations
After just watching the local news he mutters, “Just what we needed, another nature preservation to waste more land needed for industrialization.”
“Honey,” his wife says from the kitchen, “animals need a place to live, too. If we keep on building who knows what could happen?” The debate goes on as the spouses fight for their beliefs. The wife is an avid animal lover, as you can tell, but the husband cares more about the growth of America. They decide to give the topic a rest, but it will most likely end up at the dinner table next.
Before humans crowded the Earth, all types of unique species of living animals wandered anywhere they pleased. There were no obstacles in their way, such as cars or humans. No skyscrapers intruded in birds’ ways, or no dangerous roads that deer had to be afraid of existing. With new development all around the world, animals got pushed out of their homes. But, with an increase in nature preserves animals get a chance to rebuild their homes. With space, they can run wild and not have to worry about human hazards. That’s just the beginning of what good can come out of preserves.
Think about less road kill on the ground. Animals won’t have to wander off due to the fact that they don’t have a real home. Preserves offer a place for families to go on vacation, too. Several national parks, like Yellowstone, have been tourist attractions where people enjoy seeing wildlife. As you can see, these preserves not only benefit the animals, but they give you joy too.

The Hike of No Return
Have you ever underestimated anything? Maybe you didn't study hard enough for a test because you thought it was going to be easy, and then finally saw the test and understood you made a major mistake? Something like this has happened to me before, but instead of being scared or worried, I had to make lemonade out of lemons (I bet you've hear that one before). It was Summer time, and my family and I were in Canada with my aunt, uncle, and their daughters. Lisa, Tom, Sarah a junior in Highschool, and Shelby who is in her second year of college were all with us. I don't know why, but our families get along great, and I know that whenever we're together a good time is guaranteed. We were at such a beautiful place in the world that we couldn't pass up the opportunity to go on a trail hike through the woods. The concierge gave us reconmedations on what hike would be the best, and she said that the Train Wreck was just wonderful. We woke up in the morning with the mindset that we were going on a trail walk that would be a breeze and not very time consuming. Boy, were we wrong!
